CAIRO – 25 August 2017: Paul Pogba, Manchester United’s midfielder, won the Europa League’s player of the season award on August 25.

Pogba was selected the best player in the Europa League last season after receiving the most votes from the 48 managers of the teams that played in the League last season. He also got the most votes from the 55 journalists selected from European sports media.

After winning the award, Pogba said, “thank you. I'm really honored to be the first to win the best player for the UEFA Europa League. Hopefully this season will be as good as last season -- let's see,” ESPN reported.

Pogba received the award after starting with Manchester United in their fifteen Europa League games and helping them win the trophy last season after beating Ajax 2-0. The French international midfielder managed to score three goals in the 15 games he played with Manchester United at the Europa League last season.
