Egypt qualifies to the round of 16 in the U19 Volleyball World Cup

CAIRO – 23 August 2017: The national junior volleyball team, led by Nihad Shehata, qualified to the round of 16 on August 22 in the U19 Volleyball World Championship held in Bahrain from August 18-24.

The U19 national volleyball team qualified to the round of 16 after beating the United States 3-1.

Egypt managed to defeat Tunisia and Puerto Rico earlier in the group stages; however, they only lost once against Bahrain, the host country, in the opening game.

Egypt is expected to play against Cuba on Thursday in the round of 16.

The national team was in group A alongside Tunisia, United States, Puerto Rico and Bahrain.

The U19 volleyball national team had 2 matches with the U23 volleyball national team in preparation for the Bahrain U19 Volleyball World Championship, in addition to another friendly match with their Japanese counterpart, which ended with Egypt’s victory last Tuesday.
