CAIRO – 19 August 2017: Chelsea’s manager Antonio Conte spoke on August 18 ahead of Chelsea’s match against Tottenham Hotspur in the second fixture of the English Premier League on August 20.

Speaking to the reporters in the pre-match press conference, Conte talked about the possible replacement to Chelsea’s midfielder Cesc Fabregas after receiving a red card in the last match. Additionally, Conte addressed Chelsea striker Diego Costa’s claims he was treated like a criminal in Chelsea.

About Chelsea’s lack of midfielders, Conte said, “I can put a goalkeeper in midfield and this is a solution (he joked). I have to study the best option, to find the right player, to find the right characteristics to play in this role. In the past [ David Luiz] played in the midfield, in the past honestly I prefer him to play central defense. We are trying to find a different solution that will work,” reporting from ESPN.

Conte addressed Costa’s claims saying, "I can tell you that everyone who was in Chelsea knows very well what happened last season with Diego. It's funny, this interview. I'm not interested to continue this issue. I repeat: for me, it is in the past."

Conte laughing at Costa’s claims:

Chelsea will face Tottenham Hotspur on August 20 looking for their first win in the league after loosing in the first match against Burnley with a 3-2 score.
