CAIRO – 18 August 2017: Barcelona former goalkeeper, Victor Valdes announced on Thursday his retirement after 15 years of playing football professionally.
Valdes, 35 years is a Barcelona Academy product, he got promoted through youth teams till he joined Barcelona’s first team in 2002, when his story with glory started.

Valdes was a regular member in Barcelona dream team who dominated European football from 2008 till 2012, he played alongside legends like Ronaldinho Gaucho, Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, Carles Puyol and Lionel Messi.

Valdes trained under great coaches like the Dutch manager, Frank Rijkaard, Pep Guardiola and Tito Vilanova.

Valdes won 2006, 2009 and 2011 Champions League titles with Barcelona, he also won six Spanish League titles.

Valdes left Barcelona in 2014 to have another challenge, he joined Manchester United in 2015 but he failed to shine in England like he did in Barcelona so he moved to Belgium to play for Standard Liege.

Valdes returned to England to play for Middlesbrough, despite he had a great season there, but he failed to help the team to avoid relegation.

Valdes had great success on International level, he won FIFA World Cup 2010 and UEFA EURO 2012 with the Spanish National Team.
