CAIRO –14 August 2017- In the end of the first round of the English Premier League, Egypt Today reviews the final standing and the results of the matches.

Arsenal defeated Leicester City 4-3 in the opening match. El Neny assisted the first goal for Arsenal, which was scored by Alexandre Lacazette after 2 minutes from the starting whistle. Welbeck, Ramsey and Giroud also scored for Arsenal. Vardy scored 2 goals for Leicester City after the equalizing goal scored by Okazaki.

Liverpool tied with Watford 3-3. Salah performed well, as he scored a goal in the 57th minute and assisted another one. For Liverpool, Sadio Mané and Roberto Firmino also scored. Stefano Okaka, Abdoulaye Doucouré and Miguel Britos scored for Watford.

On the same day, Hegazi scored the winning goal in his first appearance with West Bromwich Albion in the 31st minute against AFC Bournemouth. With that goal, the game ended with West Bromwich’s victory.

Chelsea, the title holder, lost to Burnley 3-2. Vokes scored twice for Burnley, and Ward added a goal. Newcomer Morata and David Luiz scored for Chelsea.

Huddersfield Town, which joined recently the Premier League from the lower division, defeated Crystal Palace 3-0. Two goals were scored by Steve Mounie, and Joel Ward scored in his own net.

Wayne Rooney scored for Everton, the team he had grown up in and then rejoined in this transfer market, giving Everton the first three points against Stoke City, the team that Ramdan Sobhi plays for; although, he didn’t participate in the game, which ended 1-0 for Everton.

Southampton played against Swansea City. This game ended with a draw, without any goals.

Manchester City beat Brighton 2-0. Sergio Agüero scored the first goal, and Lewis Dunk scored in his own team’s goal.

Newcastle United lost its first match 2-0 after returning to the Premier League against Tottenham. Dele Alli and Ben Davies scored for the Spurs.

West Ham United suffered against Manchester United and lost 4-0. Lukaku, Manchester’s new striker, scored 2 goals. Martial and Pogba also scored for Man Utd.
In a wonderful opening round for the Premier League, there were 31 goals, at least two sensational games, and enough action to make the next nine months appear even more mouthwatering.
