CAIRO – 13 August 2017: Real Madrid C.F. and FC Barcelona announced on August 12 their squad list ahead of their upcoming game (El Classico) against each other in the Spanish Super Cup on Sunday night.

Real Madrid’s manager, Zinedine Zidane, selected the following players for the match against FC Barcelona:

Goalkeepers: Keylor Navas, Kiko Casilla and Luca Zidane.

Defenders: Dani Carvajal, Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane, Jose Iglesias (Nacho), Marcelo da Silva, Theo Hernandez.

Midfielders: Toni Kroos, Carlos Casemiro, Marco Asensio, Francisco Suarez (Isco), Mateo Kovacic and Dani Ceballos.

Attackers: Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Lucas Vázquez.

Real Madrid’s midfielder Luka Modric will not be playing due to suspension. Kovacic or Isco are likely to replace him in the starting lineup.

On the other hand, Ernesto Valverde FC Barcelona’s manager chose the following players ahead of El Classico:

Goalkeepers: Marc-André ter Stegen, Jasper Cillessen
Defenders: Nélson Semedo, Gerard Piqué, Jordi Alba, Javier Mascherano, Aleix Vidal, Samuel Umtiti

Midfielder: Sergi Roberto, Ivan Rakitić, Sergio Busquets, Denis Suárez, Andrés Iniesta

Forwards: Luis Suárez, Lionel Messi, Gerard Deulofeu, Paco Alcácer

Arda Turan, Andre Gomes and Rafael Alcántara (Rafinha) did not make it into Barcelona’s 18 player squad list. The first two were out based on the opinion of Barcelona’s manager Valverde, while Rafinha will miss the game due to his injury.

Real Madrid will go head to head against FC Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup on August 13 at Barcelona’s Camp Nou Stadium at 10 p.m. Cairo local time.
