12 August 2017: Former Barcelona striker Rivaldo Vitor believes in the team’s ability to overcome Neymar’s departure and have a great season under their manager, Ernesto Valverde.

“The transfer can even serve to reinforce the spirit of the team and demonstrate that players come and go, but the club is far above them,” Rivaldo told Betfair.

Neymar left Bacrelona to join Paris Saint Germain after the French team paid his buy-out clause worth €222 million ($261M).

Rivaldo added, “Neymar went to Paris, and despite his importance for the team, I think Barcelona will be able to solve it.”

Rivaldo also thinks that Neymar’s transfer could help the club, as he said, “The fee is a very important financial income that allows the club to have some breathing space, in addition to trying to bring in new signings."

Rivaldo trusts Barcelona’s new manager, Ernesto Valverde, to achieve great things with Barcelona. “After doing a good job for Athletic Club Bilbao, it was certainly the best option for Barcelona. I think he can bring a lot of things to the club and help them win titles in both Spanish and European competitions," the former striker said.

Rivaldo played with Barcelona for five years, from 1997 to 2002, before leaving the club to join AC Milan.
