CAIRO – 9 August 2017: The Egyptian Women’s National Basketball team will play against Iraq on 9 August in the semi-finals of the Women’s Arab Basketball Championship at the Cairo Stadium Basketball Arena.

The national team will be playing to continue their winning streak in Wednesday’s match against Iraq. Egypt must win in order to qualify for the final on 10 August.

Egypt managed to start the first match of the group stages with a great 114-51 victory over Iraq. The Egyptians gained their second victory over Tunisia in the second fixture of the group stages with a score of 65-60. In the third and last match of the group stages, Egypt defeated Jordan 97-52.

The winner of the game between Egypt and Iraq will play against the winner of Tunisia and Jordan in the final on 10 August.

It is worth mentioning that the Arab Basketball Federation considered postponing the tournament, considering that the Federation received approval from only four nations (Egypt, Tunisia, Jordan, and Iraq) to participate in the tournament.
