CAIRO- 5 August 2017: Neymar became the most expensive player in the world for €222 million ($261M) when French club Paris Saint Germain paid Spanish club FC Barcelona for the Brazilian striker.
Paris Saint Germian announced last Thursday signing Neymar Da Silva, who had officially played for FC Barcelona for five seasons.
Neymar moved to Parc des Princes after the record-breaking contract with the French club.
Weloba, the Barcelona fan news site, published a picture of Neymar ‘s check from the contract, under which the Brazilian player became a free player with the right to move to any club.
Weloba pointed out that Neymar does not have any penalty clause in his contract with Paris Saint Germian. Due to Spanish law, the French side had to pay the Liga giants the fee up front, and that meant cashing a check for a huge amount of money.
Paris Saint Germain’s president, Qatari businessman Nasser Al-Khelaifi, signed one of the best players in the world, Neymar Jr., from Barcelona for €222 million ($261M), making Neymar’s transfer the highest in history. The deal has been seen as a “politicized step” by Qatar to rescue itself from losing its position as host of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
