CAIRO – 29 July 2017 - The Egyptian national U-19 women’s basketball team lost to Mexico 70-66 in the classifications games from 9 to 16 on Friday in the FIBA World Cup held in Italy from July 22-30.
The national team had a strong match against Mexico and was very close to obtaining the victory, but the luck wasn’t on the Egyptian team’s side.

The Egyptians, led by coach Haitham Eid, had lost in the first round against Russia 114-63, then won the second round to the team of Puerto Rico 69-52, the first victory for the Egyptian women's team in the history of participating in the World Championships. They then lost to Spain 88-71 in the last round of the first stage, before the team faced a loss to China with a score of 85-43 in the round of 16.

Egypt will play in the classification matches, which determines the positions between 12 and 16 on Saturday.

The team includes 12 players: Miral Ashraf, Rana Alaa, Toqa Gamal, Asrar Majid, Mariam Hossam, Hana Yasser, Radwa Salem, Rana Abdel Zaher, Ranem El Barqi, Nadine Rehan, Nesma Abdel Rahman and Gannah Mostafa.
