Ledecky unbeaten record ended in Budapest - Reuters

CAIRO - 27 July 2017: Federica Pellegrini, Italian swimmer, won 200m free style in 2017 World Aquatic Championship while American swimmer Katie Ledecky won Silver medal.

Pellegrini, 28 years, ended the competition in 1:54:73 as the first in the field while Ledecky and Australia's Emma McKeon shared the second place ending the competition in 1:55:18.

Katie Ledecky unbeaten record of 14 tries in an individual competition in Major tournaments ended by the Italian Swimmer.

Pellegrini, the eldest in the field, spoke after the victory, she said “I honestly thought the one to win the race would be Katie, and it wasn’t,” according to The Associated Press.

Ledecky, 20 years, spoke after losing the Gold Medal, she said “I just didn’t feel really like myself in the middle of that race, It felt like I was scrambling a little bit at the end. That hurts a little but, but I’m going to come back stronger and be really good in that event the next couple of years.”
Budapest hosts 2017 world aquatics championships from July 14-30.
