CAIRO –26 July 2017: President Abdel Fatah el- Sisi spoke on July 24 regarding the issue of returning the fans back to the stadium.

Talking in the 4th Annual Youth Conference, President Sisi answered the questions of the Egyptians under an initiative called Ask the President.

President Sisi answered the question saying, “The security in Egypt improved compared to what it was on in the past four years.

Now Egyptians feel a lot safer than they were in the past. Our security is something related to us as citizens and those who go to watch the matches are my sons and yours.

Does the father makes sure that his son will not cause any problems to the stadiums and there will not be any riots. This is something that also needs to be taken care of as a society.

President Sisi concluded on this matter saying, “The government works on communicating more with the citizens. The people must understand that today’s suffering will lead to a better tomorrow for us and the future generations. So, in order to take a decision regarding returning the fans to the stadiums we need to know that this decision will not have any consequences.”

It is important to note that the fans were not allowed to enter the stadium for the first time following Al-Ahly vs. Al-Masry match that saw 72 people dead due to a great rivalry between Al-Masry and Al-Ahly fans.

The fans then returned back to the stadiums for a very short time due to the death of 20 people in the match between Zamalek SC and Enppi, which saw 20 people dead.

Now, the fans are only allowed to enter the CAF Champions League matches with a limited number due to fear of having any casualties.
