CAIRO – 26 July 2017: The men's fencing national team qualified for the quarter-finals of the World Fencing Championships on Tuesday which held in Leipzig, Germany.

Egypt beat Czech Republic 34-33 with the golden touch to qualify for the quarter-finals and face France, national team captain Ahmed Al-Saghir led the team in the final round and to turn the results upside down as he made seven points in the last two minutes to manage the team to beat the Czechs.

The pharaohs had qualified to the stage of 16 after beating the Venezuelan the eighth on the world ranking 45-41.

The national team is represented in the World Fencing Championships with Mahmoud Mohsen, Sherif Fayez, Ahmed al-Sukkari and the team’s leader Ahmed al-Saghir.
