CAIRO – 23 July 2017: Jose Mourinho, Manchester United’s manager, spoke on July 23 about Manchester United’s goalkeeper David De Gea’s destination this summer.

Mourinho talked to BBC about De Gea’s transfer to Real Madrid revealing the whole case after a lot of speculations.

Speaking to BBC, Mourinho said “The club’s door was closed, but when a player has a desire to go, I don't stop him. So, we opened it and they [Real Madrid] decided to close. I can guarantee he (De Gea) is not going this season.”

Mourinho then talked about De Gea’s performance in the training session and his competition with United’s second goalkeeper Sergio Romero; Romero pushed De Gea hard last season and was preferred for the Europa League final win against Ajax.

Mourinho continued to BBC, “De Gea is really happy, focused and working better than ever. The best thing that could happen for De Gea was the way Romero played last season. Until last year, De Gea was clearly a safe man; a clear choice. But after what Romero did last season, De Gea thinks he is training in another way. He is much better than before."

Manchester United is currently getting reading for the upcoming season through playing friendly matches in the pre-season.
