National swimming team finalizes FINA World Championships preps

CAIRO –18 July 2017: The Egyptian swimming team has finished its preparations at the Olympic swimming pool at the youth and sports city in Sharm El Sheikh before traveling to participate in the FINA World Championships in Hungary July 15-30, 2017.

The national team participates in the synchronized swimming competitions, diving and open water, as well as short distance swimming competitions. The delegation consists of 35 swimmers.

International Egyptian swimmer Farida Othman will participate in the short swimming competition, swimmer Ahmad Akram will participate in the 800-meter and 1500-meter freestyle, swimmer Omar Issa will compete in the 50-meter and 100-meter butterfly, swimmer Ahmed Hamdy in the 400-meter varied, swimmer Yusuf Abdullah in the 100-meter back and swimmer Marwan Amrawy will race the 5km and 10km open water.

The Minister of Youth and Sports stressed that Egypt owns a distinctive infrastructure in all governorates and provides an opportunity for all teams to establish camps before participating in various tournaments.
