CAIRO – 17 July 2017: The Egyptian national volleyball team lost to Russia 3-0 in the U-20 Women’s Volleyball World Championship, ending the group stage without a win.

Egyptian players couldn’t stop Russian points. Russia, one of the volleyball giants in the world, dominated the game from the beginning to the end.

Russia won the sets 25-118, 25-16, and 25-17 to achieve three victories from three matches in the group.

Nada Meawad was the highest scorer for the Egyptian side, scoring 8 points.

Following the win, Russia stayed on top of the group with 9 points, while Egypt stayed in the bottom with only one point.

Egypt lost the opening match 3-2 against the host nation, Mexico, after a tough match. Egypt then lost the second match to Bulgaria 3-0.

The U-20 Women’s Volleyball World Championship is being held in Mexico from July 14 to July 24. Mexico is hosting the championship for the third time, after having also hosted it in 1981 and 2009.
