CAIRO – 14 July2017: Jermain Defoe, striker for premier league club Bournemouth and the England national team, leaves his team's pre-season training camp in Spain to attend the funeral of Bradley Lowery back in England.

According to Daily Mail, Jermain Defoe and Bradley had developed a friendship during Defoe's time in Sunderland. Lowery, six years of age, recently passed away due to a rare form of cancer he had suffered from, known as neuroblastoma.

The funeral will be held at St. Joseph's church in Blackhall Colliery, with loud speakers outside, playing the memorial service. The family will later hold a private ceremony at the crematorium.

Club Bournemouth issued a message on their official Twitter feed, it stated the following: 'Jermain Defoe has today departed our pre-season training camp and returned to the UK for the funeral of Bradley Lowery.'

After leaving Sunderland, Jermain Defoe, 34-year-old striker, signed a three-year long contract with the Cherries, after the Sunderland's exclusion from the Premier League.
The rest of the Bournemouth squad, along with their manager, Eddie Howe, are away in Marbella, preparing to take on the Portuguese Estoril in a friendly match this coming Saturday.
