People with special needs get their chance to shine

CAIRO - 7 February 2019: Mohammed el-Garhy, the vice chairman and managing director at El-Garhy Group and secretary general of the Nation’s Future Party, announced sponsoring the talented student with Down's syndrome, Mariam Wajih, after joining the Faculty of Fine Arts.

Wajih won the first prize at “Mawaheb Misr” (Egypt’s Talent), the first competition of its kind to explore the talents of people with special needs, held under the auspices of High Hills Company and directed by journalist Shaimaa el-Sibai

The sponsorship's contract includes offering a monthly salary for Wajih; besides, holding an exhibition for her works.

“People with special needs are special and distinctive; they should be allowed a chance to fit in the society and achieve limitless success. We have to eliminate all obsolete beliefs claiming that they are disabled. They are in deep need for help, yet, they have a lot to give. They are full of energy and insistence to prove their existence,” Garhy stated.

Garhy added, “We do not sponsor athletes only because they are famed, but also because they are good models and Mariam is the same."

It is worth mentioning that Wajih joined the Faculty of Fine Arts this year, accomplished lots of success during the first semester and overcame lots of obstacles and barricades.
