Egypt wins national costume competition in Beijing

CAIRO-27 November 2018: Egypt ranked first at the eighth Wuzhou Cup Diplomat National Costume held in Beijing,China.

The Egyptian Embassy's Cultural Office in China participated in the diplomat national costume competition, where Egyptian students in China represented Egypt.The competition was attended by Egyptian Cultural Adviser in China, Hussein Ibrahim, and the ambassadors of Belarus, Maldives and Nepal.

Representatives of diplomatic missions and their families as well as foreign students in China attended the show.

In this competition, the Egyptian team presented the development of the Egyptian traditional costumes throughout the different ages.Also, the team performed the tahtib dances it reflects a part of the Upper Egyptian culture.

“We invite all of you to visit Egypt to enjoy its nature and archaeological sites,”Ibrahim said.
In his speech, Ibrahim pointed out that traditional clothes are an integral part of every society' sheritage. Ibrahim also confirmed that Egypt is keen to participate in these events to introduce the Egyptian culture, heritage and customs.

These events increase mutual understanding and build friendly, peaceful relationships between peoples of the world, Ibrahim added, asserting that China shows consistent keenness to attend all Egyptian cultural events.

The adviser also affirmed that cultural exchange between Egypt and China has increased in recent years.

A total of 16 delegations from different countries,including Vietnam, Romania, and Pakistan, participated in the seventh Wuzhou Cup Diplomat National Costume Competition held in Beijing’s Xiushui Street.

Peru ranked first at the seventh Wuzhou Cup Diplomat National Costume Competition, while Belarus and Russia took the second and third places.

The Belorussian team performed several dances to traditional Belorussian music; Belarus also won the contest in 2012.
