CAIRO - 26 October 2018: Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad launched on Friday a bike race along Alexandria corniche.

The 8-kilometer-long race kicked off from Alexandria's Municipal Stadium to the Swedish Academy.

The director of the Swedish Institute in Alexandria attended the activities of the race along with a delegation from the European Union with the participation of 600 persons from various bodies.

Fouad asserted that this event falls within the framework of the ministry's activities aiming to promote the 14th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 14) that is set to be held in Sharm el-Sheikh in November 29.

Fouad said that the ministry seeks spreading the culture biking and hiking which are not polluting the environment and play an important role in protecting it.
