Cairo - 30 September 2018: Yoga is an ancient practice that has recently become popular as it is a retreat from the busy pace of life. But, can yoga be a kind of alternative medicine? Medical studies proved the constructive benefits of yoga which include stress relief and being an effective medicine!

Yoga can: 1- Give you an emotional boost, since it makes people happier as it calms them down and helps them better control stress and anxiety, giving them peace of mind after only one class.

2- Aid fertility; some experts believe that specific poses can help promote pregnancy by increasing blood flow to the pelvis, stimulating hormone-producing glands, and releasing muscle tension

3- Help drug addicts quit, as it replaces artificial highs with natural ones. It is a powerful way to ease one’s way through recovery and to gain the peace of mind needed to beat addiction.

4- Help people conquer insomnia; studies show that incorporating yoga into one’s daily routine can boost the quality of sleep. In a 2005 study, 69 elderly patients were assigned to practice yoga, take an herbal preparation or become part of a control group. The participants in the yoga group fell asleep faster, slept longer and felt well-rested in the morning compared to other groups.

5- Help alleviate migraines; evidence shows that yoga can be used as an adjunct therapy for headaches and migraines as it stimulates the vagus nerve which is effective in relieving migraines.

6- Boost memory; yoga isn't just good for the body, it helps the memory too. A new study suggests that taking a weekly class of Kundalini yoga, which involves breathing exercises, chanting, and mediation, improves the memory.
