CAIRO – 30 June 2018: Egypt’s Ski Egypt has received 10 penguins to present to a market typically unfamiliar with the aquatic, flightless birds.

Their new home is Egypt’s makeshift, corporate version of the Artic located at the Mall of Egypt. The penguins are the Gentoo and Chinstrap species, two of the largest penguin types worldwide.

The male and female penguins welcomed to Egypt have been trained and prepared to meet visitors and perform before audiences as of July 1.

There are only about half a million Gentoo penguins in the world, with lengths that commonly range between 0.6 to 0.76 meter, making them the third-largest penguins after two giant species.

A long-tailed Gentoo penguin weighs between 5.5 to 6.5 kilograms approximately, with a lifespan that can exceed 20 years.

Meanwhile, the Chinstrap or bearded penguins are the fifth-largest penguin in size out of typically 17 species of penguins. There are about 7.5 million Chinstraps in the world inhabiting parts of the Antarctic Ocean and Southern Pacific.

The Chinstraps ordinarily range between 0.45 to 0.63 meter in length, with an average weight of about 3 kilograms.

Ski Egypt in Giza’s 6th of October city is keen on providing penguins with the suitable environment in terms of temperature and light conditions, within the framework guidelines from San Antonio’s SeaWorld, Texas.
