Cimatheque and restaurant Eish + Malh are collaborating in their ongoing Dinner at the Movies series - where classic and independent films are screened while the audience enjoys a delicious four-course dinner - set for July 17th at 7:30PM.

The event is part of a creative partnership between Eish + Malh and Cimatheque that began in 2015 and works to bring the experience of a cinema into the traditional confines of a restaurant.

Each program so far has presented a series of specially choreographed film screenings timed with a four-course dinner; all centered on a particular theme and generally tailor-made for Eish + Malh's singular setting. The program also hopes to engage the local community on central questions regarding film history, the archive, and alternative uses of public spaces.

This edition of the program on July 17th will explore personal relationships and the different shapes they take over time. Everything from the sunny, courtship phase, to horrible breakups, marriage, scenes of domesticity, and the kinship between siblings will be presented, through a blend of contrasting cinematic styles and genres. Films that will be screened include the lesser-known works of renowned figures such as Buster Keaton's The Love Nest (1923), alongside films from oft-neglected pioneers such as Lois Weber's Suspense (1913), Alice Guy's Fallen Leaves (1912) and contemporary works from Egyptian filmmakers such as Shaymaa Aziz's Love Dance (2011).
