CAIRO – 25 October 2017: In recent years, social media influencers and beauty bloggers have branched out to empower an underrepresented segment of society; curly-haired girls. With the rise of curly bloggers, many girls started embracing their natural hair texture.

Curly hair is not a one size fits all. Curly hair types are divided into three main categories: types 2, 3 and 4. Each of these is further divided into three sections.

The first hair type is type 2 or ‘wavy hair,’ ranging from slight waves to soft curls. It is in between straight hair and curly hair.

Then comes curly hair type 3 hair which is everything from springy curls to tight coily curls.

Finally, there is the kinky hair or type 4 hair. This hair type includes slightly visible curls to fluffy afros.

It is difficult to find out your hair type, but the sooner you find your hair type, the easier it is to style it. It is completely normal to be a mixture of two hair types, though.

Curly hair is necessarily drier than straight hair. There are different styling techniques but moisturizing your curls is the number one step to embracing your hair. In order for your hair to curl naturally, your hair must be moisturized.
