Egyptian Museum's visitors increase on second day of Eid

CAIRO - 28 June 2017: Manager of the Egyptian Museum Mohammad Ali reported that more than 2,000 Egyptians and foreigners visited the museum on the second day of Eid this year.

Ali explained to Egypt Today that the increase in visitation is normal for the Eid season. He expects that there will be even more visitors today.

To assure of the safety of the people and the monuments, the museum will take all necessary precautionary measures including extra security personnel presence at the site.

The Egyptian Museum is one of Egypt's main touristic attractions located in Downtown Cairo. Since it was established in 1835, the museum has been home to the most important and largest collection of artifacts from the Pharaonic era with over 120,000 objects of historic value. Famous artifacts housed at the museum include the iconic golden mask of Tutankhamun, the mummy of Hatshepsut and statue of Ramses II as a child.
