CAIRO - 19 June 2017: Two Emirati filmmakers, Alwiya Al-Thani and Rami Yasin, will represent the UAE at the Global Media Makers program this year, Emirari news agency WAM reported Thursday.

Global Media Makers is a six-week exchange program that strengthens relations with leading international and U.S. filmmakers, the statement read. The two filmmakers will join 14 other filmmakers from around the globe.

Al-Thani is an Emirati director and Image Nation Abu Dhabi production manager while Yasin is known for producing several Image Nation feature films such as “Zinzana” and “Worthy.”

Both filmmakers will attend specialized mentorships, workshops, master classes and intensive filmmaking labs where they will learn about screenwriting and creative production from a team of American mentors in the global film industry.

The program will take place in Los Angeles and will provide mentors the chance to visit filmmakers in their home countries following the program.

Global Media Makers is partnering with Film Independent, a film production platform, to establish a mentoring project that will connect visual storytellers from around the globe with leading American entertainment professionals.

Participating filmmakers will follow up with their mentors after the program ends for the remainder of the year.
