CAIRO - 1 May 2019: Late writer Ahmed Khaled Tawfik was enlisted in the project "Lived Here", which aims to commemorate Egypt's literary, artistic and intellectual symbols who contributed to Egypt’s civilization throughout history.
The National Authority for Civilization Coordination placed a copper sign on April 30 on the wall of the house where the late writer resided in Tanta. The sign was placed in the presence of Tawfik’s son pharmacist Mohammed Khaled Tawfik.
“Writer Ahmed Khaled Tawfik lived here, 9 Tharwat Street, the second district of the Western province, Tanta,” the sign read in both English and Arabic.
The project aims to create an accurate and adequate database of Egyptian influential personalities in addition to creating guidance boards bearing their names, birth dates and deaths dates on the houses where they lived.
The boards also include QR codes, which provide access to accurate information about their lives and achievements through a specially designed website.
The scientific committee of the project consists of: Chairman of the National Coordination Council for Civilization Mohamed Abu Saada, Former Minister of Culture Emad Abu Ghazy, and Director of Projects Department in Bibliotheca Alexandrina Khaled Azab, among others.
The project is sponsored by the International Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in cooperation with the National Authority for Civilization Coordination and the Information and Decision Support Center under the chairmanship of the Council of Ministers.
It is worth mentioning that it is possible to use the map related to "Lived Here" project to search for special individuals listed on the database.
