Arab Theater Festival's 36th edition kicks off March 13

CAIRO - 14 March 2019: The Arab Theater Festival’s 36th edition kicked off on March 13 in the Theater of the Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts. The festival carries the name of Zaki Tulaimat and runs until March 25.

The festival was launched with a theatrical drama play entitled "The Dream Begins with a Journey” written and directed by Mohamed Abdel Sabour. The play received high interaction from the audience, especially that it includes portrayals of the stars of the golden era, including Ismail Yassine, Shukuku, Shwikar and others.

The ceremony was presented by artist Mahmoud Hegazi and artist Mohammed Mahran. Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem, President of the Academy of Arts Ashraf Zaki and Vice President of the academy Ghada Jabara honored a number of deans of the Institute of Theatrical Arts including Abdel-Moneim Mubarak, Abdel Nasser Gemayel, Hassan Attia, Mustafa Sultan, Ahmed Sakhsoukh among others.

In addition, star Maged el Kedwany was honored as one of the graduates of the institute for the year 1995, while Ahmed Helmy did not attend the honoring.

“I am glad to be honored by the institute which witnessed the beautiful memories that brought us together,” said Kedwany.

After the honoring ceremony, Minister of Culture Abdel Dayem expressed her happiness with the success of the festival which has been held over the course of 36 years.

For his part, Zaky said after the ceremony that he is glad with the festival especially that it is honoring the deans of the institute for the first time.

After the ceremony, Mahmoud Hegazi stated that he is happy to have been invited by Zaky to participate in this important day in the life of the institute's students.
