Min. of Culture reveals details about Central Committee of Publishing

CAIRO – 3 February 2019: Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem revealed the latest details about the Central Committee of Publishing, which she formed almost a year ago.

Abdel Dayem clarified that the committee decided that the General Egyptian Book Organization will be the country's publishing authority. Abdel Dayem further stated to YOUM7 that the committee is currently waiting for the completion of the Cairo International Book Fair’s golden jubilee to decide the final recommendations of the new publishing authority.

The publishing committee will determine the priorities of publication in different sectors of the ministry and the printing establishments that will handle the publications.The titles of publications will also be monitored and decided by the General Egyptian Book Organization.

The committee also aims to create coordination among different entities, discuss the forms of printing and shed light on obstacles related to registration numbers. In addition, the committee targets displaying books in different exhibitions, protecting intellectual copy rights, and discussing the development of electronic publishing.
