CAIRO – 23 January 2019: Under high security measures, the 50th Cairo International Book Fair kicked off on Jan. 23, witnessing the arrival of youths in high numbers.

The exhibition is hosted by the Egyptian International Exhibition Center (EIEC) in the Fifth Settlement district.

The Arab League is the guest of honor of the CIBE's 50th edition. Former Minister of CultureTharwat Okasha and writer Suhayr al-Qalamawi were chosen as personalities of the year in the exhibition’s golden jubilee.

The General Egyptian Book Organization (GEBO) was keen to announce the different book sections in the fair. The sections include a wing specialized for Al-Azhar publications, children publications, and Ministry of Defense publications, among others.

The Cairo International Book Exhibition is hosted on a total area of 4,500 square meters. The number of participants from around the world is 169 publishers,representing 35 countries.The number of sections is 723 and the number of Egyptian publishers participating is 748 publishers. The total number of participating publishers is 1273 publishers.

The exhibition will run until Feb. 5, 2019.
