CAIRO – 13 January 2019: Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem and Governor of Luxor Mustafa al-Ham will inaugurate Luxor African Cinema Club in Luxor’s Cultural Palace on Jan. 17 at 6 p.m.

Festival's president Sayed Fouad, the honorary president of the eighth edition of the Luxor African Film Festival Mahmoud Hemeida and President of the General Authority for Culture Palaces Ahmed Awad will be present during the inauguration.

Abdel Dayem stated that launching an African cinema club in the south of Egypt to achieve cultural justice in various parts of Egypt, and transform the Luxor African Film Festival into an international event running throughout the year.

The minister of culture further pointed out that a special program has been prepared for the peoples of the African continent.

The club is the first of its kind to be inaugurated in Southern Egypt after the establishment of the Cinema Club at the Hanager Cinema in Cairo and the Center for Freedom of Innovation in Alexandria.

The club will be held on the third Saturday of each month at the Luxor Culture Palace. It is noteworthy that the African Cinema Club is launched as one of the activities of the Luxor African Film Festival, under the label of "a festival throughout the year".

The festival will run from March 10 to 21 under the auspices of the ministries of culture and foreign affairs, in cooperation with the Governorate of Luxor,and with the support of the ministries of tourism, youth and sports and the Cinema Syndicate.

Tunisia will be the festival’s guest of honor.
