CAIRO – 1 December 2018: Musician and director Hisham Kharma has been recently in a visit to Dubai to record his latest song, in which he cooperates for the first time with Indian singer Tanvi Shah.

The song is scheduled to be released before the end of 2018.

Kharma is cooperating with the famed Indian star of the movie “Slumdog Millionaire”, who was granted several awards and Oscars in 2009.

It is worth noting that Shah was granted the Grammy Award for her performance in the movie's song “Jai Ho”, making her the first Indian star to ever win such award.

The Egyptian musician will perform his latest song “Born Free” in English, and will perform in Indian in his duet with shah.

Kharma was born in Cairo but lived most of his life in Miami, Dubai and Hamburg; thus he is heavily influenced by the eclectic cultural mix. His music is a combination of electronic, ethnic, lounge and funk sounds.

Kharma’s melodies cross all cultural barriers taking the listener to different worlds. His first official release by Virgin Megastore and Hybrid Records was “First Voyage”.

Kharma’s second album was produced by Sony Music in the “Arabesque” series along with the Grammy Award winner Yanni and Cat Atilla.

His third and last album was released in 2016 entitled “Al-Yaqeen” (Faith). Kharma is considered an icon among electronic music artists in Egypt.

His album “Al-Yaqeen” achieved widespread success last year. “Sahla we Basita” (Simple and Easy), “Shouf be Albak” (See with your Heart) and “Fel Malakout” (In the Kingdom) are among his most famous hits. “Kharma” is about to release his album after releasing his latest joint single, “Youmeen” (Two days) with Hany Adel.

Kharma will play a live concert at the Cairo Jazz Festival opening ceremony on Thursday, October 11 at the American University in Cairo.

Cairo Jazz Festival presents 20 different concerts from 14 different countries. Among the most prominent Arab representations are the Syrian Lynn Adib, Nouran Abu Taleb, Hawidro band and Baghdadi Big Band.

The festival also features European Jazz stars like the Portuguese Rita Maria, the Austrian David Helbock and the Czech Dan Bárta, in addition to the Hungarian star Ester Fakaza, the acclaimed Jerome Klein from Luxemburg and Aki Rissanen from Finland.

Amro Salah, the festival head, stated that the Cairo Jazz Festival aims to present an international musical and cultural event that contributes to enhancing tourism in Egypt by hosting international stars.
