CAIRO – 27 November 2018:Directed by Amir el-Shenawy, “Kilo 64” first screening in the Cairo International Film Festival’s (CIFF) 40theditionon Nov. 25 was full house.

The film is competing in the “Horizons for New Arab Cinema” category, making it the only documentary film ever to compete in the contest.




Directors Tamer Mohsen, Amir Ramses, Sherifel-Bendary, Ayten Amin and Mohamed Hamad attended the screening. Also, Writers Mariam Naoom, HaithamDabbour, Mirvat Abu Auf, Mustafa el-Fiky and May el-Ghetywere in attendance.

The second screening for the film “Kilo 64” will be on Nov. 25 at 9:30 pm at Karim1 Cinema in downtown Cairo. It is worth noting that the film’s director uploaded the official film trailer on his official Facebook page.

The film mainly revolves around the journey of an ambitious pharmacy graduate who shifts his career and starts a farming business at kilo64 off Cairo-Alexandria road.

The film was nominated for several awards, such as Salah Abu Seif Award for best artistic contribution, Saadel-Din WahbaAward for best Arabic film.

Shenawy is a freelance filmmaker based in Cairo and London, and is a graduate of Goldsmiths University of London.
