CAIRO – 13 October 2018: Veteran actor Farouk al-Fishawy will be honored in the Khartoum Arab Film Festival's fourth edition set to run from Oct. 20-25 in Sudan.

The Sudanese festival decided to honor the Egyptian star and grant him the Creative Shield Award for his enriching film career that spanned over decades.

A total of three Egyptian movies are expected to participate in the festival:

• "El-Asleyeen" (The Originals) starring Mena Shalaby, Maged el-Kedwany, Khaled el-Sawy.

• "Torab Al-Mas" (Diamond Dust) starring Menna Shalabi, Eyad Nassar and Asser Yassin.

• "Photocopy" starring Mahmoud Hemeida and Sherine Reda.

Khartoum Arab Film Festival will honor also veteran Egyptian actress Elham Shaheen.

It is worth noting that Alexandria International Film Festival for Mediterranean Countries honored veteran Egyptian actor, Fishawy, who announced he is struggling with cancer.

The announcement shocked the attendees who wished the veteran artist a speedy and full recovery. Fishawy assured his fans that he is going to face and defeat this deadly disease.

After being honored, Fishawy said that his doctor informed him of this news, adding that he will strongly face the disease, and will deal with it as a simple headache.

“I will defeat the disease with determination and will, and next year I will be here again at the very same festival,” Feshawy told the attendees.

The opening ceremony of the 34th edition of the Alexandria Film Festival for Mediterranean Countries (AIFF) kicked off on Wednesday, October 3, at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
