CAIRO – 25 September 2018: The Ibero-American embassies decided to cooperate in a cinematic venture to present a selection of movies in Zawya.

According to a statement issued by the Spanish Embassy on Monday, 13 Spanish and Portuguese films will be translated to English and screened at Zawya Cinema for a week from September 26 to October 2.

The fruitful cooperation between the Ibero-American embassies and Zawya Cinema for the fifth time in a row helps spread the richness and cultural diversity of Ibero-American countries in Cairo.

It is worth mentioning that Zawya Cinema screened 20 newly restored films by late iconic Egyptian director Youssef Chahine at its new venue from September 12 to 22.

Zawya planned these film screenings to commemorate the tenth anniversary of Chahine's death; the screenings were organised by Chahine’s company Misr International Films, in collaboration with Egyptian and European partners.

The screenings were also accompanied by workshops, discussions and lectures.

Egyptian director Basel Ramsis presented a master class on September 14 and 15 to look at the development of Chahine’s vision and how his storytelling methods developed.
