CAIRO – 30 August 2018: The Higher Institute of Ballet will head to China upon the approval of Minister of Culture Ines Abdel Dayem to represent Egypt in the third International Folk Art Week, set to be held from Sept. 12 to 20 in Shanghai.

According to the statement issued by the Ministry of Culture, Egypt’s participation in international cultural and artistic events represents its prestigious position in the world, and is a step that will deepen relations with different countries, particularly China.

Established in 1962, the Higher Institute of Ballet, which is affiliated to the Ministry of Culture, is one of the institutes at the Academy of Art.

In 2018, Egypt participated in several international cultural events.

On June 21, Abdel Dayem headed to Rome and Viterbo, Italy, to attend the opening ceremony of Italian-Egyptian cultural events, which are organized by the Benedetti Cultural Foundation, one of the largest foundations supporting culture and arts in Italy since 1899, to promote cultural and diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The opening ceremony, held in Viterbo on June 23 and 24, included pharaonic shows presented by a ballet band of the Cairo Opera House.

Additionally, Egypt participated in the 12th edition of the international Children of Peace Festival, which was held in Morocco from July 23 to Aug. 3 under the organization of the Bouregreg Association in Salé, Morocco.

Furthermore, Egypt was a guest honor at the 12th edition of Souk Okaz Festival in Al-Taif city, Saudi Arabia, which convened in July. Abdel Dayem inspected the preparations of the cultural activities of the festival, held under the supervision of General Supervisor of the Cultural Affairs Abdullah al-Kanani.
