CAIRO – 15 August 2018: Members of the puppet show “Puppets Got Talent” produced by Kayan Marionette Independent Theatre flew to Russia on Tuesday to participate in the International Puppet Festival held in Petrushka on Aug. 20, 2018.

The International Puppet Carnival held in Yekaterinburg, Russia, is considered the best in the world in its category of carnivals.

Numerous international puppet artists will participate in the event using the famed Petrushka dolls.

The participation in the festival is an initiative from the Ministry of Culture to support the Egyptian youth, making sure they enhance their skills through participating in significant international events around the world, and helping them express themselves in new and creative means.

It is worth noting that puppet theatre actors previously commented in various media platforms that puppets should not be treated as objects. A puppet is something special and should be treated as a precious artistic object.

Some puppeteers claim they actually talk to their puppets before pulling their strings on stage because a special bond is built between them. A puppet’s facial expression could enhance the performance on stage and even send hidden messages within the dialogue, adding more creativity to the performance.
