CAIRO – 22 May 2017: The government has allocated EGP 1.25 billion (over $65 m) to renovate a number of museums and palaces, stated head of the projects sector at the Ministry of Antiquities Waad Abou El-Ela on Sunday.

The project will include renovation of the Graeco-Roman Museum, Mohammed Ali Palace in Shoubra, the Baron Palace, the Qasan Palace in Alexandria and King Farouk Rest House. The Projects also aimed to complete the construction of National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.

Abou El-Ela said that the Egyptian government is interested in the development of archaeological areas and sites to preserve the ancient Egyptian civilization, and to promote the Egyptian tourism.
