CAIRO - 24 June - 2018: The Egyptian National Theatre Festival will kick off on July 19, 2018, and will run until August 2.

President of the event, critic Hassan Ateya, will manage the festival for the second year in a row.

The festival this year honors late writer Mahmoud Diab for his theatrical career.

Ateya informed youm7 that critic Ahmed Hashem has been chosen to supervise the different gatherings and discussions in the upcoming festival that will revolve around the following topics

• Mahmoud Diab’s Theatre:

This discussion will be lead by critic Mahmoud Naseem and will tackle different issues that concern theatre enthusiasts in Egypt.

• A discussion about theatrical works performed throughout the previous decade and the messages these works relay from the perspective of young critics such as Ahmed Khamis, Yasser Allam, Mohammed Mosad, Lamya Anwar and others.

• Theatrical works for children in Egypt "Al Bushra wal Araes" & "Al Waqi’e wal Ma’amool".

• The Sudanese theatre and how to match interests with the Egyptian theatre.
