CAIRO – 26 April 2018: Egypt's most famous YouTuber, Shady Srour, is collaborating with fellow YouTuber Logan Paul for a new project, as announced on Srour's Facebook page.

Shady Srour, real name Shady Waleed Sorour, is an actor, producer and hip hop musician with well over 2.5 million subscribers to his YouTube channel. Born on April 25, 1993, he taught himself film-making through the Internet in 2011, trying and failing to produce his own short films before deciding to head to the stage. He studied at Hanager Theater, but found the traditional theatrical education there too slow for his tastes.

Eventually, Srour began to first taste fame through several short comedic videos he shot with his own mobile phone. With the advent of the Social Media video platform "Vine", Srour was able to find his first audience through the short six-second videos he shared.

At only 19 years old, he became the first Egyptian youth to bring in around 50 million views. His follower group on Instagram is also massive, with two million subscribers and counting.

Logan Paul's story on the other hand isn't as uplifting. Paul was one of YouTube's most popular content creators, with a fan base of over 15 million subscribers earning him in around $12.5 million in revenue. However, Paul became the subject of immense controversy in January this year following a video he uploaded of a trip to Japan, which saw Paul and his friends visiting the Aokighara Forest and recording footage of a dead body.

Paul had also lost a deal with YouTube to produce a sequel to his 2016 YouTube Red film "The Thinning", and the film was removed as part of the YouTube Original Series "Foursome", and was cut from YouTube's Google Preferred program.
