CAIRO – 2 April 2018: The Egyptian documentary “AH!” won the second best movie award from the Babylon International Festival on Sunday.

“AH!” was directed by the Egyptian director Mohanad Diab. “AH!” has previously won prominent awards from numerous festivals such as the Delhi International Film Festival in India, and Taharqa International Festival in Sudan. “AH!” follows a Muslim couples’ experience with racism in France.

Diab’s previous documentary “Mastoura” won the Best Documentary Award from Tangier Film Festival. “Mastoura” was produced by the Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity to participate in Tangier International Film Festival.

The documentary revolves around two Egyptian ladies, Mastoura and Mervat, who narrate their stories, explaining how their lives have changed after they received the “Takaful and Karama” program – the tailor-made financial aid scheme implemented by the Ministry of Social Solidarity to help women in need.

This is the first documentary produced by the Ministry of Social Solidarity. “Mastoura” previously participated in Cannes International Film Festival in 2017. The documentary won the Best Film Award and the Best Montage Award for El Sawy Cultural Wheel short movies festival in 2016.
