CAIRO – 30 March 2018: The Egyptian Minister of Culture, Ines Abdel Dayem, accompanied by the head of Cairo Opera House, Magdy Saber, and the Governor of Beheira, Nadia Abdou, will inaugurate the sixth edition of Damanhour International Folk Festival on Friday.

The opening ceremony of the festival will house performances by the Sri Lankan Dance Boys, Chinese Luangen, Hind Al-Rawi, Mohammed Raouf, Gabriel Shaibi, and the grandson of Al-Rayes Metaal. Damanhour International Folk Festival’s events will extend for nine days with the participation of 18 bands from 10 Arab and foreign countries, including Egypt, Nigeria, Indonesia, Vietnam, China, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Lebanon, Jordan and Tunisia.

The festival in its sixth edition will honor a notable group of iconic artists such as the former head of Cairo Opera House Abdel Moneim Kamel, Professor of Popular Literature at the Academy of Arts Salah Al-Rawi, the late artist Al-Rayes Metaal, Abdel Sattar Selim, the Egyptian singer Mohamed Raouf, the young singer Hind Al-Rawi and the Lebanese artist Gabriel Shaybi. All the festival’s events will take place at the Damanhour Opera House Theater.
