CAIRO – 9 March 2018: The Alexandria Opera String Orchestra will be hosting a concert at the Alexandria Opera House, featuring music by Mozart, Schubert and Saint Saens on Sunday, March 11, 2018.

Conducted by Hisham Gabr, the string orchestra will perform Mozart’s Don Giovanni overture, K.V. 527, F. Schubert’s Symphony No. 5 in B-flat major, D. 485 and C. Saint-Saens's Havanaise for Violin Solo and Orchestra, op 83.

Gabr works as a resident conductor for the Cairo Opera House and is the director of the Bibliotheca Alexandria Arts Center. He studied conducting across Egypt, France, and the USA, which is where he finished his advanced studies in New York's Cornell University. Gabr has even composed music for movies, documentaries, theatre and musicals since the 1990s.

He has also composed in numerous international orchestras as well, including the Royal Opera House in Oman, the Caracalla Dance Theatre and the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra.

The concert will also feature violinist Khaled El Showeikh.
