CAIRO- 26 February 2017: The sixth edition of the Aswan International Festival for Arts and Culture (AIFAC) concluded its activities amid a remarkable “Light and Sound” show. Newly appointed Culture Minister Ines Abdeldayem and Aswan’s governor Magdy Hegazy have inaugurated the closing ceremony end of last week.

Seven countries have participated in the festival with a total of 250 artists resonating from Greece, Tunisia, China, Thailand, Kenya, India, and Ethiopia which was the festival’s guest of honor alongside Sudan, according to a released statement by the Cairo Opera House.

Among the eight performing troupes who showcases their cities’ distinguished heritage, Shalateen, Aswan, Sohag, Luxor, Ismailia, “Kasr El Tazwok” (Artistic Center) in Alexandria, Toshka for spontaneous arts and New Valley troupes.

Performing artists have exhibited their local heritage through not only their performances but also costumes and drawings among other aspects of commuting theatrical performances that emphasized that culture is an effective communication platform among countries.

Culture Minister Ines Abdeldayem is currently studying potential plans to conduct such festivals and activities in smaller towns across other governorates in the country including villages that are found across Suez Canal in the upcoming period.
