CAIRO- 24 April 2017: Daughter of acclaimed Lebanese singer Fairuz, Reema Rahbany, denied reports of hosting a concert for the star in Egypt, mocking the inaccuracy of the news on her Facebook page.

Rumors that Fairouz will perform in Cairo during Eid al-Adha holiday break in June went viral on Egyptian social media this week. Some Egyptian media outlets propagated the false news, claiming that the concert will be organized by the Egyptian national television.

Rahbany sarcastically criticized the false news and questioned the purpose of such claims.

Fairuz’s last concert in Egypt was in 1989 at the Giza pyramids, and it was attended by a large audience of Egyptian and Arab fans, whereas her last concert in Beirut was in 2010.

The 81-year-old Lebanese legend’s latest album was released in 2010. She last appeared on the social media in a video shot by Rahbany, where she serenaded an Easter carol earlier this month.
