CAIRO – 3 January 2018: Cinema Daal initiates its film screening events in 2018 with screening the Spanish drama film “Cria Cuervos” (Breeding Ravens) tonight, instead of screening “Madrid 1987” due to some technical issues.

Shedding light on the darkened side of an eight-year-old girl called Ana, the film revolves around the story of three orphan sisters Irene, Maite and Ana who live with their aunt and their handicapped grandmother after the death of their mother.

Ana’s depression and melancholic feelings stem mainly from witnessing her mother’s and father’s painful deaths.

Written and directed by award-winning Spanish director Carlos Saura, “Cria Cuervos” stars Gerladine Chaplin, Monica Randall, Florinda Chico, and Ana Torrent.

Released in 1976, the film won the Grand Prize of the Jury at Cannes Film Festival 1976. It also participated in major film competitions such as the Golden Globes, USA, Cinema Writers Circle Awards, Spain, National Board of Review, USA, and the French Syndicate of Cinema Critics, France.
