CAIRO – 16 December 2017: Animated stop-motion short film “Ayny” by Ahmad Saleh was awarded the Karama Feather for Best Jordanian Film at the Karama Human Rights Film Festival in Jordan.

With over 20 awards under its belt, “Ayny” has proven to be a critical darling amongst international film festivals. Based on true events, the film follows two young boys who escape the protective gaze of their mother in order to play with their dream instruments.

Saleh wrote, directed, narrated and edited the short film, with music by Nizar Rohana, animation by Frank Pingel, Lionel Poutiaire Somé was director of photography and production by Stefan Gieren. The film was a joint effort between Jordan, Palestine and Germany, distributed in the Arab world by MAD Solutions.

The Karama Human Rights Film Festival is an annual six-day event started in 2010 in Amman, Jordan. Its goal is to raise awareness of human rights issues though it’s film screenings, discussion sessions and workshops. Around 365 human rights films have been screened in the seven years since the festival was founded.

Amongst the awards “Ayny” has earned include Best Animation at the Lebanon International Film Festival and a Golden Oscar for Foreign Animation at the Student Academy Awards 2016.
