CAIRO – 16 December 2017: St. Catherine’s Monastery’s ancient library in South Sinai was inaugurated on Saturday, December 16. The library was opened after three years of renovation work.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Minister of Antiquities Khaled Anany along with a group of Egyptian officials and foreign ambassadors.

The library contains the world’s second largest collection of early codices and manuscripts, outnumbered only by the Vatican Library.
