CAIRO – 15 December 2017: Renowned Egyptian director Yousry Nasrallah will lead MENA’s first audience-generated film project, where the public will be given the opportunity to complete one of his film scripts by registering on a digital platform.

This project, dubbed The Arab Entertainment Experience, was announced at the 14th Dubai International Film Festival on Tuesday and is claimed to be the Middle East’s first crowd-generated film project. The AEE is a talent development project that will see the creation of a user-generated film with the guidance of Nasrallah and a team of the Arab world’s most talented filmmakers. It will be launched in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Dubai, and is based on previous ‘Entertainment Experience’ projects in China, the Netherlands and Turkey.

The project will run for nine months and follow the journey of film production, led by the audience, who will write, direct and compose their own movie script. Winning scripts will be transformed by Nasrallah into a professional release fit for cinemas. A 13-episode TV show will record the creation of the project, and master classes and workshops will be available for all involved.

"This project is a pioneering step in talent development for the creative film industry, and we hope it will open new horizons,” Nasrallah stated in a press release according to Ahram Online.
