CAIRO – 1 December 2017: The late Egyptian music icon and actress Shadia will be honored with two concerts at the Cairo and Alexandrian Opera Houses on Thursday, December 7.

These concerts will be held at the same time, both under the management of the Cairo Opera. The Cairo concert will be performed by Abdel-Halim Noweira Troupe for Arabic Music and is to be conducted by Ahmed Amer. Meanwhile, at the Alexandrian House, conductor Abdel-Halim Abdel-Ghafar will lead the Alexandria Opera Company for Arab Singing.

According to Ahram Online, the management of the Cairo Opera House expressed their remorse over Shadia’s passing in a press release, stating: "Her art and voice remains immortal in the memory and souls of the people."

Shadia’s influence on Egyptian culture was immense, having starred in over a hundred films. She died on Tuesday at the age of 86, after which crowds of mourners gathered on the streets to mourn her publically as her coffin was carried.
